First 5 Humboldt has started the process of revising our Strategic Plan! When voters passed Proposition 10: The California Children and Families Act in 1998, the measure outlined how counties would stay aligned with the needs of their communities through evaluation and strategic planning. Every year, the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission reviews local survey and evaluation data, as well as information on the health of Humboldt’s children, and updates its plan as needed. Every five years, the Commission takes a deep dive into the state of children and families in our county and revises its Strategic Plan. Our current Strategic Plan, 2020-2025, can be found on our website.
Our vision is for all Humboldt County children to reach their full potential in healthy, safe, nurturing families and supportive communities that value, respect, and invest in their well-being.
Our mission is to improve the lives of children and their families by supporting and advocating for comprehensive, integrated systems of services that use prevention and early intervention to foster secure healthy children, reduce disparities, and promote equity and positive change.
Over the next few months, the Commission and our Community Advisory Committees will be looking at data and listening to our communities so that we can create a plan to support children and families through 2030. Our meetings are always open with public comment very welcome, and the Commission will host additional public input sessions in January and March, 2025. Watch our website, Facebook, and Instagram for information on how to participate. If you’d like to email us your thoughts on what our priorities should be, email us at first5humboldt@co.humboldt.ca.us with “strategic plan input” in the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you! ♥
