For anyone that works with families in our community, and/or is a parent or caregiver themselves, you have probably had families communicate a need or desire to engage in parenting education of some sort- whether it be a Parent Café model where caregivers gather and have an opportunity for open conversation or whether it be a more structured model where parenting education curriculum is offered. In general, there seems to be an overwhelming need for parenting education amongst Humboldt County families. First 5 Humboldt has created a parent education training menu in response to this need. We now have staffed trained in Triple P Positive Parenting, Abriendo Puertas (Opening Doors), Parents as Teachers, Infant Massage, NBO (Newborn Behavioral Observations), CRM (Community Resiliency Model) and we will soon have folks trained in Positive Indian Parenting.
