February marks the start of our new grant work focused on expanding and augmenting Triple P and Positive Indian Parenting classes for our Humboldt BIPOC families through the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI). The first steps of the plan focused on listening sessions to guide our Triple P augmentations. We held two BIPOC parent listening sessions and one provider listening session to gather feedback and concerns around parenting classes. These conversations will guide our work moving forward on how we can create a feeling of safety and community while addressing cultural values, traditions and following Triple P curriculum. Through the next few months, we will focus on augmenting material, creating a resource folder, and connecting with partners. We have a community partner at Paso a Paso trained on Triple P Level 2 as of last week and are working with other partners to expand who can offer classes in our community!
