Reflecting on the Past and Embracing What’s Next: Community Events

March 07, 2025

We are thrilled to have a calendar full of parenting classes! Our team has been working closely with partners across the county to facilitate parenting series that are culturally responsive and tailored to the needs of Humboldt families.
In November, we partnered with Paso a Paso to host an all-Spanish Triple P Positive Parenting series, creating a safe virtual space where over 20 caregivers came together to share parenting challenges and successes while learning about the positive parenting model. This class was a huge success, and when Paso a Paso clients completed their yearly survey, they shared that First 5 Humboldt classes were among their favorites! We are honored to be invited back for another Triple P series this fall.
Looking ahead, we are excited to offer an Abriendo Puertas class in partnership with Paso a Paso this spring! This curriculum, created by and for Latino families, focuses on advocacy and empowering caregivers as their children’s first teachers. We recognize the importance of strengthening family advocacy within the school system and are eager to bring this opportunity to our community.
In January, we also held an in-person Triple P class in Fortuna—a successful gathering filled with meaningful conversations and connections at the Gene Lucas Community Center.
As we move into February, we are hosting a virtual class, followed by two in-person series at Blue Lake School and Orleans Elementary! We are so grateful to be welcomed into these spaces and look forward to sharing these classes with our community.
Stay on the lookout for more spring and summer classes!
With the new year bringing many changes, we are excited to announce that our 2025 Stronger Together Symposium will take shape as a four-part event series focused on honoring our work, families, and resilience. This series will celebrate families, caregivers, and professionals while fostering connection and resilience among those in the early childcare field and caregivers across Humboldt County.
We will kick off the series with a beautiful family event—stay tuned for updates by following us!

We also have some big news to share… First 5 Humboldt is launching a podcast! 🎉
Nurturing Humboldt will explore topics such as resilience, equity, mental health, and innovative approaches to family and community care. Launching this spring, we can’t wait to share the incredible stories and conversations ahead!
